Outcomes
By the end
of this quarter, successful students should be able to:
1)
read and understand information about housing and your
community;
2) use a telephone
directory and locate places on a map;
3) write a formal
letter and edit your writing;
4) talk about
housing, utilities, bills;
5) check out books
from the BCC library;
6) use the simple
past tense, comparatives and superlatives, and the
future tense with
be going to;
7) keep track of your
progress and completion of your goals;
Attendance
You
need to come to class every time. If you
miss 20% (9 days), you cannot come back to class next quarter. Not in class 9
days = No class next quarter.
When
you are sick, call Tom at (425) 564-3089 or email him. If you leave class and cannot come back, tell
the teacher. This is very important.

You will need
a notebook, paper, pens, and pencils.
Bring them to each class.

Come to class
on time.
·
Do all
homework and participate in class (work in groups/pairs, ask questions).

Be polite and
respect your classmates. We learn from
each other. We can help each other. We must treat one another with respect, even
when we have different ideas. We will
use professional student behavior that does not disturb others.

Each student will
keep a portfolio, or folder. The
portfolio will have:
1) all attendance
sheets from every quarter;
2) short-term
goals progress sheet
3) Feedback
sheet (it has your writing score from every quarter);
4) ARM sheet
(this tells your CASAS scores for each quarter);
5) all tests
and quizzes from every quarter you attend level 3;
6) two
examples of your writing from each quarter;

You will need to buy
a textbook. They are for sale in the BCC
Bookstore.
