What Not to Expect from the Reading Lab
- An individual tutor who will work with you exclusively.
- Instant results. Building reading skills requires that you commit your time to working in the lab.
- Instruction and/or explanation about the content of textbooks in college-level, content area classes. For example, our staff is not qualified to answer questions about the content of a chemistry text, about how to interpret the instructions for a data processing assignment, etc.
- Literacy-level non-readers of English should first contact the Developmental Education Office in R230 for information about ABS, GED, ESL 5. Students with disabilities should contact the Disability Resource Center (DRC) first.
Lab work should be completed in 50-minute units--1 hour per day. Students who want to work more than 2 units per day must get permission from Lab staff. The Lab Director rarely approves more than 2 hours per day.
